NCURAMS Update 4/6

April 6, 2022

SOFTBALL

The North Central University (NCU) softball team had a tough week, adding four losses to their now 7-12 record. The first pair were from non conference opponent Augsburg University. The Rams struggled to get on the board in the first game, losing 3-0. However, in the second game, six different Rams recorded RBI’s and runs, but lacked three runs to beat Auggies. The second pair of losses came from Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) rival, the University of Northwestern. NCU seemed to stick around with the Eagles in the opening innings but UNW quickly took control of the game with a surge of hitting. The Rams fell in both games, 19-2, and 10-2. The Rams game on Tuesday Apr. 5 and Thursday Apr. 7 were canceled due to the weather and will be rescheduled for a later date. Weather permitting, NCU faces off with UMAC competitor Crown College on Saturday Apr. 9 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

LACROSSE

The NCU lacrosse team’s conference debut Wednesday Mar. 30 was postponed due to weather and field conditions. The Rams did get to play a game this past Saturday against the University of Dubuque, losing 29-0. Players Jaydon Crim and Jackson Smith led the way attacking the goal, but NCU was unable to find the back of the net. Today Apr. 6 the Rams face Cornell College at 7 p.m. at home in Elliot Park. Following this game, NCU plays this Saturday Apr. 9 at Monmouth College at 3 p.m.

BASEBALL

The weather was not kind to the NCU baseball team as three of their games were postponed this past weekend due to poor field conditions. Furthermore, they quickly rescheduled one game against UMAC opponent, Northland College (NC) Monday Apr. 4 but this game was also postponed due to poor field conditions. The Rams will hopefully get back into action in a non conference game against Macalester College. The game will be away Wednesday Apr. 6 at 3 p.m. Following this game, NCU plays three weekend games against the University of Minnesota Morris, another UMAC opponent.
