2022 Faculty of the Year
The 2022 Dr. Gordon Anderson Faculty Award for Excellence has been awarded to Professor Mark Skeba for the nine years or less category and to Dr. Nan Muhovich for the ten years or more category. At this year’s commencement ceremony, held on Apr. 30, both Skeba and Muhovich walked up to the stage to receive their awards. This award was established by an anonymous friend of the university to honor previous North Central president Dr. Gordon Anderson’s legacy. Students were given the opportunity to vote for the faculty members they believe deserved this award. Two of North Central’s full-time faculty members were selected, one who has served NCU for ten or more years while another faculty member who has been in service for nine years or less.
Below are the recipients:
Mark Skeba is a professor of business and marketing known for his love of Jeeps, and his annual marketing class that includes a presentation in front of well-known companies. Previously, Skeba was a marketing consultant for General Mills strategizing for a number of brands including Pillsbury and Chex cereal. The networking and contacts he has built over the years has provided him invaluable experience to teach and guide his students at the collegiate level.
Dr. Nan Muhovich has been a professor of global studies at NCU since 1999. Muhovich started at Macalester College for her bachelor’s then went on to Bethel Seminary to get her master’s followed by her doctorate at the University of Minnesota for international adult education. Her love for the Lord and people is shown daily in her classrooms as she graciously mentors her students.
Skeba and Muhovich were granted a commemorative plaque and a cash award in honor of their excellence in teaching, service, scholarship, and spiritual leadership.
