Rebecca’s Restaurant Reviews: Pizza Lucé

April 1, 2022

Pizza Lucé is a locally owned business and is a must-try in Minneapolis if you love pizza. Pizza Lucé has nine different locations from Minneapolis to the suburbs to St. Paul to one in Duluth. The one nearest to NCU’s campus is about five minutes away and their delivery is quick and friendly. The best part is that they have free delivery! Their delivery hours are from 11 a.m. – 2:30 a.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. – 2 a.m. on weekends. It would be a beautiful 25 minute spring walk to the downtown location, open from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. If you and your friends are looking for a delicious experience while studying and can’t leave to take a break, order Pizza Lucé. For one appetizer and two 16 inch pizzas, it cost about $55  (tip not included), enough to feed about four to six people. This would cost about $10-$15  each person, depending on the tip you decide.

Though I haven’t been to the restaurant for dine-in since COVID-19, they are now open for dine-in. This review is on the delivery of the pizzas only. Their pizzas come fresh and hot, never messy or cold. Pizza Lucé has a wide variety of toppings and unique specialty pizzas with salads, desserts, pastas, and hoagies. They also offer vegan and gluten-free options. When you first bite into your slice, you can taste each fresh ingredient, the smokiness of the roasted veggies and the spice of the sauce. The meat is not greasy and tastes fresh.

I recommend trying out one of their specialty pizzas and the artichoke dip appetizer. My favorite specialty pizza is “The Lucé”, one I will always order. “The Lucé” is made with red sauce, Italian sausage, garlic, onion, and mozzarella. In the past, I have ordered the “Pizza Athena”. It’s made with Bianca sauce (a red sauce made with basil and vine-ripened tomatoes and extra-virgin olive oil), spinach, tomato, feta cheese, Kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, red onions, Greek oregano, toasted garlic and light mozzarella. They also have vegan cheese instead if you prefer. Recently, I ordered the Spanish Chicken; it was a savory and creamy delight. The toppings are red sauce, mushrooms, smoked Gouda, red onions, chicken, toasted garlic, and mozzarella.

The signature teal, magenta, and yellow pizza boxes are covered with a traditional American sailor tattoo style art and are hard to miss. Their unique style shows in their signature pizza and flavor combinations, but also in their live music events. On occasion, Pizza Lucé will have live music in their restaurants. If you live or come to visit Minneapolis, Pizza Lucé is a great meal to share with the ones you love. Its creative recipes and fresh ingredients will not disappoint. So, next time you have to cram for finals, order Pizza Lucé or if you’d like a night out, check out the dine-in experience.
