A 5-Minute Devotional to NCU Seniors
“Are you excited to graduate?”
As a senior myself, I’ve heard this question many times throughout this year. I usually shrug, laugh, and make the best remark that comes to mind. I’m sure you’ve heard this question numerous times too, phrased in different ways. “Are you ready?” “Are you scared?”
But maybe you, like me, have a very different feeling underneath the surface. Beneath the cap and gown ceremony, therein lies something else: worry. For some, even a sense of impending doom. What am I going to do after graduation? Where will I work? Where will I live? How will I make money? The questions pile one on top of the other. The minute one question is answered, it seems as if the rest pound louder. Meanwhile, it often feels as if everyone else knows exactly where they’re going and what they’re doing.
Dear NCU senior, you are not alone. It’s okay to be scared, even if you have all the answers. You are so loved by your Maker, and held in the palm of His hands. He has created you special and placed you at this exact moment in time for a purpose.
Right now, your life might seem out of order and messy. You may feel completely inadequate of God’s love, or far from His arms. But I pray that you would take courage in Psalm 139, and trust the words “He has become my salvation.” Let Him become your salvation today.
Prayer:
Jesus, I’m not sure where I’m going. I am excited to finish my journey here at North Central, but I am also apprehensive about what is to come. I ask that You would give me Your peace and lead me in Your ways. In a whirlwind season of endless choices and concerns, I pray I would seek Your will and follow Your voice. I pray that you would give me the strength to keep going, even when I don’t see what you’re doing. Give me the faith to believe in you, even when I don’t hear your voice. Amen.
