Experiential Learning: Faculty Interview with Professor Mark Skeba

September 12, 2022

Beginning in late November of 2021, classes from North Central’s College of Arts and Sciences rallied together and created a lineup of faculty interviews. Three comm arts classes including Public Relations, Intro to Digital Media, and Video Production 2 gathered to direct and film faculty interviews. These interviews are now used for promotional purposes, website content, and social media.

The following interview was conducted with The College of Business and Technology’s Professor Mark Skeba. For over 3 years, Skeba has been helping COBAT students grow through marketing, business, and communications courses. Skeba’s approach to education incorporates experiential learning, real-world client projects, and interactive discussion-based experiences in class.

Skeba said, “Most colleges will teach knowledge, but we teach knowledge applied. In our marketing classes, we work on marketing to clients and pitching to them. In our branding classes, we do proposals for our potential investors. For our communications classes we shoot, we edit and we put things together. The work is actually knowledge applied.” North Central COBAT students look up to Skeba for his leadership, encouragement, and positive attitude in the classroom.
