NCURAMS Update: 3/30

SOFTBALL

The North Central University softball team furthers their win streak to six games after a pair of victories over Finlandia University (FU) on Thursday, Mar. 24. Furthermore, the Rams remained undefeated at home and moved to a 7-8 record on the season. The hitting game for NCU has helped the team dominate their opponent as they scored a total of 29 runs in two games against FU. Multiple players contributed to the hitting success including center fielder Isabella Gallardo who had six RBI’s, and five runs combined in the two games. The Rams look to continue their overall success with a doubleheader today at Augsburg University with games at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Following these games is another doubleheader on Saturday as NCU starts up Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) play against the University of Northwestern with games at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

LACROSSE

A week from today the NCU lacrosse team faced off with the Illinois Institute of Technology and took a hard 24-3 loss. The Rams did manage to get more goals on the board with two from senior Jay Crim and one from freshman Jackson Smith. Today, NCU travels to St. Paul for a UMAC match against the University of Northwestern at 7 p.m.

BASEBALL

After a postponed game, the Rams got back into the swing of things with two wins against Lincoln Christian University with scores of 8-5 and 6-1. NCU ended the first game with three runs and used that game-ending momentum to start the second with four more unanswered runs. Freshman Julian Encinas totaled three RBI’s in the first game and freshman Blaine Alden totaled two in the second. Following the successful weekend, NCU went head to head with UMAC opponent the University of Northwestern but came home with a 28-2 loss. With these games under their belts, the Rams move to 2-3 on the season with plenty of more games to go, including a busy upcoming weekend. First, NCU will host Northland College, another UMAC opponent, this Friday at 3 p.m. followed by a doubleheader at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. the next day.
