NCURAMS Update 3/23

SOFTBALL

NCU faced off with NCCAA North Region opponent, Maranatha Baptist University (MBU), four times this past weekend. The Rams swept the Sabercats with scores of 14-2, 15-7, 13-5, and 19-3. MBU had no answer for NCU’s offense throughout the two doubleheaders. Selma Carrasco, Isabella Gallardo, and Kali Kahalekomo all hit a homerun each in one of the four games. Fourteen different players scored at least one run in the four-game stint while multiple players scored more than once. The Rams are now currently undefeated at home and move to 5-8 on the season. NCU will host another non-conference doubleheader Thursday at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. against Finlandia University.

LACROSSE

After having their first two games canceled due to weather, the NCU lacrosse team finally was able to play in their first game against Marian University (MU) out of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin. Not only was this the Ram’s first game of the season, but their first game in about three years, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of numbers. NCU lost to MU 23-1. Senior Jay Crim scored the team’s single goal. The lacrosse team is in action again today against the Illinois Institute of Technology at 7 p.m. and starts conference play against Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opponent, the University of Northwestern, on Mar. 30 at 7 p.m.

BASEBALL

The NCU baseball team will travel to Lincoln, Ill. this Friday for a matchup against Lincoln Christian University. On Friday, the Rams will play at 2 p.m. and on Saturday, at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
