Minneapolis is a hub for art and culture. New galleries are constantly opening or large events are being held at art galleries what seems like every couple of months. AGG Art + Home had their grand opening on Nov. 5.  The gallery is new to Glenwood Avenue and the metro area. Just an eight minute drive from campus, AGG, or Glick Gallery, offers a unique and modern type of space.

They specialize in contemporary art, photography from the rock-and-roll era, furniture and one-of- a-kind fashion. All are on rotation. Their current exhibit, running through the end of December, features pieces by Norman Seeff, Julian Lennon, Chris Larson and more. AGG features furniture by Maya Mueble and local husband and wife crafters Tandemmade. Other home goods range from lighting to vases, throw blankets and notebooks.

Annalise Glick, owner of AGG, had one thing in mind when she was planning the gallery: not to have it feel like an empty and cold space.

“The vision for the gallery was really to create a loft style living space with curated art, clothing and home products,” Glick said.

The gallery is nothing short of homey and has a great urban residential feel. The current and first selection of art is inspired by Glick’s life in Los Angeles and New York City. She previously worked in the music industry, her first passion, and lived her life among other artists. “It is very much a closing of a chapter for me in the music world but at the same time re-inventing it to bring it along with me in my new work.”

The gallery’s atmosphere is very welcoming. “It’s important for people to feel comfortable and want to explore the artists,” Glick said. She hopes that visitors will take away inspiration from walking through, as well as being aware that AGG supports the abundance of local talent. Glick mentions that there is an array of artists at the gallery’s back door.

As far as upcoming events, AGG Gallery will be releasing a schedule of future events, times and artist names on their website and Facebook page. In the meantime, the gallery hosts a wine and cheese night every Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

“We hope to make new friends, meet artists and creatives to add to the supportive art world we have in Minneapolis,” Glick says.

AGG is open to the public at noon Wednesdays through Saturdays. You can also view all art, lighting and home goods on their website:
