On November 5, 2016, North Central University’s men’s soccer team defeated the Moody Bible Institute Archers in Ankeny, Iowa, during a remarkable overtime win of 2-1. The team earned the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division II North Region championship banner.

With Saturday’s win, the North Central Rams received an automatic spot in the NCCAA DII National Tournament in Kissimmee, Florida. The Tournament begins on Wednesday, Nov. 16 and continues through Saturday, Nov. 19.

The Rams were the number one seed going into the tournament. After a previous 1-0 win over Maranatha Baptist University, they secured a position in the championship game against the winner of the Moody Bible and Faith Baptist game Friday evening.

The first half of the championship game ended with the Archers scoring one point on the Rams. The Rams did not give up. The team came together and was able to score in the second half, tying the score at 1-1.

In the 10 minutes of overtime, North Central took three shots and Moody took two before the Rams took the win. Ian Brekhus made the game-winning goal in the last two minutes of overtime.
