Lady Rams finish out the 2016 season with a trip to the NCCAA Div II national tournament
Capping off what has been a difficult season for the Rams under new head coach Paul Brunner, the women’s basketball team ends on a positive in Joplin, MO.
Winning the region final game in convincing fashion 66-47 over Trinity Bible College, the Rams booked a ticket to the national tournament held in Joplin, Missouri where they would face off against a talented Arlington Baptist team.
In the opening round matchup against the second seeded Arlington Baptist, the Rams dream of an opening round upset was squandered in a one sided 99-66 final score. Star forward Jamie High has been a pivotal part of the Rams team this season and led with 20 points. Sophomore Lizzy Swanson also contributed with 19 points on the night.
Following the first round defeat the lady Rams were able to bounce back with a redemptive victory against Ozark thanks to Swanson’s contribution of 30 points to go along with High’s 24 points.
The women’s basketball team ended the 2016 campaign with a fifth finish at nationals defeating Pensacola 61-55.
Jamie High closes the book on one of the most successful careers in NCU women’s basketball history.
