The time has come for intramural playoffs, and it’s my job to offer some insight on the intense teams that are fighting their way to the Super Bowl. It’s pretty hard to predict anything when it comes to intramural football, so I’m forced to use my elite analyst skills on this one.
This past Saturday was “upset week”, as three of the top four seeds got knocked out of the playoff picture. Four East Carlson beat 5 West Carlson, 3 West Carlson beat MOE, and 2 West Phillipps beat 2 East Phillipps. The only non-upset was 4 West Carlson defeating 2 East Carlson.
For round two of the Guy’s playoffs, we’ve got some interesting match-ups. The first game a rematch from week one of the regular season is 4 West vs. 3 West. I’m calling this to be a close one, as both teams have solid players, but 4 West’s stronger veterans make them my pick for Super Bowl team number one.
The second match, 4 East Carlson versus 2 West Phillipps, is gonna be another close one. Because both teams are playing so well right now, it’s a hard call. Due to their recent hot streak, I’m gonna have to give this one to 4 East Carlson. Sorry, Bison.
In the Girls’ playoffs, the first game is 7 Weast (3 West, 4 East Phillipps) vs. 4 North/4 South Miller. Both teams are beastly. With 4-0-1 and 4-1 records, respectively, it’s anyone’s game. I’m gonna have to go with my gut and give it to 7 Weast though.
The second match-up is 3 South/4 Central Miller vs. MOE. With a 5-0 record, I’m giving this one to 3S/4C; though MOE shouldn’t be counted out yet, as they had one of the toughest schedules, playing three of the four playoff teams.
No matter who makes it, the Super Bowls will be intense this year. In the 4E/4W match, I’m predicting 4 West to remain defending champions. As far as 7 Weast and 3S/4C are concerned, I’m giving this one to 7 Weast.
Now all we can do is stand on the sidelines, bundle up for fear of frostbite and watch.
