Misconceptions concerning depression abound in society and even more so in the church. Some see it as a dark and scary thing which only a handful of people will deal with. Others see it only as a small problem that can be easily fixed with a healthier lifestyle.
The church is often met with discomfort when asked to assist the mentally ill. Personally, the church has upset my opinion of those in spiritual leadership, as well as in their attitude towards church members who suffer or who have suffered from any form of mental illness.
America stands on the precipice of a great spiritual abyss that we can no longer afford to ignore. Deep-rooted tensions that have been festering in the dark for years have now been brought into the open as acts of violence, hatred, and protest break out all across the nation.
Immigration is a hot topic amongst the American people. With refugees fleeing corrupt and war-stricken countries in the Middle East, America is faced with a choice to accept or deny hundreds of thousands of individuals that seem to be fleeing a living hell.
